Hey Adam, I'm a new member. i d/l your attack breaker game from Zedge.net and really liked it. i just now found your message board from the game itself and am checking it out to try and find other cool games. I noticed you have your mobi site up. do you have a website up to check out these games with descriptions. that way i won't have to browse through them on my phone all the time.

Hello and welcome! We haven't had anyone new post here in quite some time! I am sorry that I do not actually have a regular website up at the moment. It's high on my to-do list. I was working primarily on the .mobi because it's much less graphic intensive, but uses all the same functionality. I may put up an ugly yet functional website soon, just so that I have something there. It may be really ugly for a while though, as I'm not much of a graphic designer. I focus mostly on usability(as you can probably tell from my games), so I'll make it shiny later. I'd suggest gamejump.com for finding my games, but they don't list games by publisher like I do, so it's had to spot mine unless you know what you are looking for already. How bad do you think it would be if I simply made the .com exactly the same as the .mobi for now? I could have that up and running in a matter of hours if I leave it the same. Ha, sorry about drilling you for feedback.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. i think putting anything up on a .com site is better then nothing. it doesn't have to be shiny but i just like checking out stuff online first and then go d/l it to the phone from your mobi site. i don't know if other people feel the same as i do but that was just my contribution to this thread.

Good to know!
Since you took the time to post about it, there are probably tons of others who think the same way but never bother to say anything. I've been taking it easy for the last few days, and will likely get back on track next week. I should be able to have something up and running on the .com early in the new year.

What it is, homey? Big ups from NM, USA!! Yeah, I feel like I could truly be the only dude from NM who is playing your games on my w810i, since people around here seem to be ignorant to mobile-phone features nowadays. Shoot, they barely even know about the internet! I'm a big handheld game fanatic and somehow came across the Attack Chopper "series" and those were the only ones I've played so far (havent' seen the other ones talked about here, maybe I can find them on 00adam.mobi?), but of the 100's of games I've probalby downloaded, I've put the most hours into AC! Love the feel of the game. Very simplistic, but definitely gets the job done. YOu've paid good attention to detail in the controls (you can get very intricate moving around in a hail of gunfire), and just the chopper itself looks so "serious", like I really feel I'm on some sort of mission. No fancy chopper drawings needed here! I guess brushing on what you guys were talking about here, that's what I always loved about the older games (8 and 16 bit) that they leave more to the imagination. As long as it controls good, it's challenging, and fun then it's worth it to me! Hey, I do music too so maybe I'll try to hook up some gen midi files for you. I've never done it before, but I'll try do it for you. You sound like a modest guy who does this for the love of it and us true gamers appreciate it. So whatever I can do for the cause, I'm wit ya homey!

Thanks! Strangely enough, I don't know anybody that plays mobile phone games either! Even I've never actually purchased a single phone game in my life. I've tried many, but didn't find any worth buying. I don't have any good gaming phones like a w810 My phones are all el-cheapo, and suck for games. I plan on purchasing a good SonyEricsson, Nokia and Motorola for testing eventually. Since my phones suck, it gives me motivation to increase performance and playability. Warning: If you are into action games like AC 1&2, avoid the 'Origami flower' games like the plague. I made those to appease the 'virtual pet' crowd. I do recommend 'Attack Breaker Pro' though, and my newest games that are done but not released by the advertisers yet 'Attack Stack' and 'Attack of the Water Stealers'. 'Attack Cannon Challenge' is super basic, and not all that good. 'Attack Breaker Challenge' was an experiment that I threw together in 6 hours, so don't expect much from that either.

Cool, maybe when I get my new phone you can buy this one from me. I think I played some of those games too if attack breaker challenge is the one I'm thinking, yeah it's kinda like Arkanoid right? but I think the ball didn't bounce correctly or somethin and it got me mad and I deleted it. ha ha yeah i downloaded one of the Origami flower games but since I've only checked on it once in the past 4 days, it's definitely about 6 feet deep in the dirt right now.. I think the person who keeps up with cell phones know and don't expect to pay for games because there's so many free ones out there. But out here, people just buy them for their shiny-ness so they don't know. Either that or I just have too much free time on my hands.! :]

I strongly urge you to re-download 'Attack Breaker Pro' from 00adam.mobi. Only the really early versions had the 'bounce' problem. The problem was fixed back in February or March or something.
What was happening was the really REALLY fast phones ran the game at 60fps +, and I was calculating a value using integer math that got divided away into nothing because of the high framerate. As I mentioned, this was fixed long ago.
Also, if you downloaded 'Attack Paddle' or 'Attack Breaker Pro' some time between September and December from gamejump.com, or '00adam.mobi' it would have been the old version as well, 'cause the system that serves the files was wacked out for a couple months. That wasn't my fault, as I don't run that system, and had to bug them to fix it for quite a while.
Please give 'Attack Breaker Pro' another chance, I'm sure you'll like it.

Hello! I registered here today because this site looked very interesting and you also posted an excellent reply in my Q-thread over at the java.sun forum. Thank you very much! (btw regarding that thread: my problem is still not solved, is there any forum here to discuss programming?) Looking forward to check out your games Best, Tib - Norway

Welcome! Just go ahead and start a thread in the 'Questions Suggestions Comments' section, and we can work away on it.
Sometimes the only way I get people onto my forum is by inviting them from the J2ME java.sun board.

Hello! I also came from Jake's blog: your post there sure got many people intrigued! Thanks for all the good information shared so far and I expect to have quite a few more questions later, but I first have to explore all the links you provided.

Yay, more people!
I just helped another friend of mine get set up for J2ME development. He's brand new to it, and I''m forcing him to ask me questions through this message board if he has trouble, so everyone can absorb the info.

Hey Adam, So, how is your friend doing with J2ME? After reading kallin's post, I've ordered the "Java ME Game Programming" book by Martin Wells, hope to receive it soon. And congrats for finishing another game: how long did this one take to develop? Let us know how it does when released.

I haven't talked to him over the last week. I'm gonna start pestering him soon, since I thought he'd have been dropping by for advice already. My newest game took me 4 weeks start to finish. If I had been working at it exclusively, and 8 hours a day 5 days a week like a good office employee(ha ha ha), then it would have taken me no more than 2 weeks. I've got my process hammered out fairly well, and spend lots of time with my wife and baby here at home as well. It's great to be your own boss

No problem. Please ask me anything that comes to mind. I'd love it for this board to become more active than it currently is. There aren't many (any?) good boards for discussing J2ME game development. The Sun J2ME forums are terrible.

Hi I love playin your games man, most of the Java games I download onto my PDA don't scale to the screen size and as a result I have to use a magnifying glass to play them. Your games on the other hand, and I gotta be honest, dont have the most amazing gfx but what they do have is the most elusive quality in a game......PLAYABILITY!!! and due to your prowess in programming they're also fullscreen too !!! Thanks man my daily commute seems so much shorter now =)
Attack Games FTW!!!

Hi Got here from indiegamer forums. Thanks for the forum! It really helps getting started easily.
I got a question about distribution with the Greystripe. They have that link 'adwrap for publishers' and it feels like they only work with PUBLISHERS, you know what I mean. The question is whether it is possible to work with them directly for some one with only 1 game and starting out. I understand you (Adam) started in that fashion some time ago. But what's the current situation?
It would be perfectly cool to hear from someone who has recent experience distributing their first game with gs.
I understand this might be not the very best place for the question, but I haven't found anything more appropriate.
Once again, thanks for pioneering and sharing info. Cheers and good luck with your games!

Hi Adam,
just managed to join your forum.
Well as we already had been in contact via Indiegamer forum there's not much news I can write here - just that I hope to have even a fraction of your success with the games I'm going to release on Greystripe :-)

Bwuhahahahah! I'm starting to convert the masses! Honestly though, sometimes I think the guys over at indiegamer are a bit too pessimistic. I believe that there's more potential in the free ad-supported games market, than anywhere else. There must be if I can make a living doing it I don't have nearly the experience under my belt that a lot of those guys have, and my games are nowhere near as professional.
