It strikes me as quite odd, that there isn't even a crappy low-budget Tower-Defence style game on DS or PSP.
Without the constraints of J2ME, the developer wouldn't even need to worry about performance, which is the only concern I've had since the start of my TD game. By all accounts, it's a popular style of game, so why no main stream console love? I can't imagine what I could do with 100x the RAM, 100x the graphics performance, and 10X+ the processing power.... and FIXED resolutions!
Maybe when I've got too much money, I can try to make a commercial DS game...

My best shot is development kit cost. When someone pays for the kit, it's not expecting to create a low budget (even if loved) game type I guess. Commercial aspects are never romantic.

There are a lot of low-budget crap games on DS though, and a TD game may actually be popular.
