i wanted to start a comment/suggestion topic.
what i like about origami rose: the new ability to grow past 100 is fantastic. the background art style is really nice. the rose itself looks nice.
what i dont: the stem needs to be cleaned up at the base. it looks like its growing past the ground. needs goals or points to earn to spend on something. pretty background useless after a while because you grow too high and all you see is blue. the sun needs to move with the rose itself, because when you grow high you cant see where it is.

(ipod/iphone version) suggestions and features i would like to see:
expand the background. make the image larger so its not just blue at the top. i would suggest splitting the background in two. the lower half would be the nice mountain scene. make a barrier of clouds seperating the two backgrounds. make the second one something like stars and space so it seems like the flower grew out past the clouds and into space. it would be a cool effect. and the space background could be tiled so that it repeats and allows the image to continue as long as the flower is. i would love to have the ability to have selectable backgrounds as well.

multiple flower support for the paid version.
now i think making one flower per app for the free one is fine. but for those who actually want more i think the paid version needs to be expanded. i cant see there being many sales of the paid version when the free one does the exact same thing for free. there should be enhancements that make the paid version worth while. first thing i would say is multiple flower type support. like the new daisy for example. having many types of flowers clutters up the home screen. and the ipod can only have 9 pages of apps. and one is filled with apps you cant delete already so that brings it down to 8. which is a real concern. now i want to have all the flowers that come out but i am not willing to delete apps i paid for and still play to make room for them. thats why i think the paid version should support any flower that comes out as a stand alone app for free. what would be nice is if it was done in one of two ways. the simple way would be to have a menu that lists the flowers and you select the one you want and it remembers the settings.
but what i think would be incredible is another way. first off, i think that you should also earn points as well as height. and those points could be used in a simple store. the store could have different things. like buyable backgrounds or even better more lots. also the ability to buy seeds. and in each lot you have you could plant a seed of your choice that you bought. and each lot you could name and it would appear in a list. and one lot could be your rose, another the daisy, and updates would release new types of flowers. and there could be multiple color seeds you could buy for each breed. a easy way to expand gameplay since it would be the same design only with a recolor. and you could expand the idea by adding tools. maybe a watering can that we could use to water the flower with. which would be nice to see watering happening instead of just a button. and there could be different styles of cans to buy. or fertilizer that would let you grow at a slightly faster rate.

another thing i would like to see is multiple flowers on one screen. why not grow three or four on one screen all at different heights. that would be awesome. and you should be able to scroll the whole screen. once you grow big you only see blue in the background and cant look at the mountain or the bug on the ground anymore. a real shame because its a nice background.

store idea expanded: a store would give this app so much replay. here are some things i think could work well as a store.
1. buyable lots- the ability to buy more than one lot. and you should be able to name the lot so you can tell it apart from the others. and exclusive lots like a halloween lot or xmas lot for example. but i think theme lots should be unlocked and not purchased. maybe by reaching a goal of a certain height.
2. backgrounds- should have a selection of backgrounds that we could custom our lots with. from practical to exotic. like underwater or space. some could be rewards unlocked by attaining a certain height.
3. flower seeds- different breeds and a sub menu of color variants that could be updated as new flowers are made available. and you could even release color updates just to keep new content coming without having to do a lot of work. and what would be cool is if you could unlock a unique color for every breed like maybe a solid gold one as a reward for a height goal.
4. tools- items that help you grow your flower to greater heights. like a selection of watering cans. which would replace the water button once purchased and give you a nice animation of a can. maybe a basic can, mid-range and top of the line. and fertilizer to boost the growth rate for a set period of time.

trophies: some goals to add to give it replay.
there could be a set of ribbons and a set of trophies you could earn and would be displayed on a page. each one with a different goal. like if you grow so many meters in one day or if you grow one of each variation of color of a breed of flower. or if you purchase one of each seed in the store. like a bronze trophy for reaching 100, silver for 200, gold for 300. and they could be displayed in a nice cabinet and you could click it in the menu and see the display.

those are some of the ideas i had while playing origami rose. i thinks its cool that you are releasing more types of flowers. but i really hope to see the paid app expanded. giving people a reason to buy the paid app over the free version would probably help its sales. though i am sure many will still use the free ones. but one app that has all the flowers and extra features would set it apart. i would name it origami garden. i think that would give it tremendous replay and things to buy would give you more goals to try to achieve. although the app is kinda basic right now i think i has a lot of potential. now i know that many of the versions would not support changes due to size issues. and i think keeping the free versions just as they are works well. but this topic is specific to the paid version of the ipod/ipone game. with some fine tuning this app could really do well. there are a lot of people out there who are looking hard for a vritual pet type app with more to do than just press a button and go back in an hour. and with the unique style of this app you could corner a market out there. well thanks for the work put into the app and hopefully you will read my topic and some ideas will gain your interest.

Wow!
Certainly worth pondering. At the moment most of my time is being spent on a 'match 3' style game. After that I'll be considering my future projects. I've had many of the same thoughts, and in fact the original plan for the first flower game(back in 2007) was a lot more advanced than what ended up being in the final product. At the time I was more in need of getting something out the door than adding features. Same with this version, it was mostly a learning experience with the iPhone, and almost a direct port from the Java versions.
It's one of those things I keep telling myself: "One day, I'll add xxx features to this and I can finally call it complete...". I think I've said that about all my games at one point or another, but especially the flower games.
Keep the ideas coming!

lol thats a funny response. love the honesty. i really hope you get to those ideas you have.
all i ask is that for now you make the paid version worth the money. please make it so you can have the daisy and other future flowers in one app to save space with the paid app. let people pay for that convenience.
and a few basic tweaks i hope to see. like being able to see the sun no matter how high your flower grows. mine is at 300. and i would divide the background. let the original end at 100. make a cloud barrier and a second background to replace the bland blue one. if you could make it so we could insert our own images that would be cool. we could start a thread with custom made backgrounds and people could share them. saves you from a lot of work and that kind of thing gets people into it.
anyways i know you make your money on the free ad supported ones, so keep making those one flower/one app. but please consider making the paid app capable of supporting all the flowers in one app. my home screen would thank you very much. i only have space for 2 more apps. and thats after i have deleted probably over 50 to keep making room. i am down to the apps i play and like and i dont want to delete any more. thanks for reading.

lol like i said before. change the paid app to origami garden and let it support more than one flower type. maybe replace the current load screen. make it a screen with buttons. one that says origami rose, one that says origami daisy, etc. then add your text and a clickable link to the forum. that would be fantastic. thanks.

Hey, first timer playing the free app(daisy). Mine has grown over 550cm. A few things I'd enjoy seeing were the sun being visible. Or maybe an indication bar of how much light/day is left. I understand you have other projects as well and the free version is the least of your concerns. If these apps are maintained and fun, I'd stick with the same people in buying their games. Not saying you aren't either! Just looking at cleintel and getting the people who play the free version to go get the rose, and other games in development. As a consumer, I'm driven to achieve something. Goal oriented. Change the look every once and a while. What about adding seasons? Even if it's only one season being added. Thanks for readingand best of luck in the future.
