Howdy fellow gardeners!
I've been implementing changes/fixes to the origami engine, and I will be testing out a different advertising partner with the release of 'Origami Orchid'. This makes flower engine v5.0 I believe.
Imporovements: ->no more time change bug ->obvious button to change name ->better spread of scores displayed from the server: will see a much larger range than currently ->easier to scroll up/down on the ruler to see other scores/ranks
Changes: ->different advertising partner. I'm testing out adMob initially. May switch back to greystripe when Greystripe gets everything running at full steam again

I absolutely agree! The ads in Orchid are WAY better! Can you make rose and daisy like that?
Also, is there really going to be a buttercup?
I can't wait for the pay version where the flowers are combined!!! ( hopefully with a "water all flowers" button)

Actually, the posts you see about the other flowers are talking about older games that were released for non iPhone's. There are actually many flower games out on Java devices...
Rose, Daisy, Tulip, Daffodil, Wildflower, Buttercup, Carnation, Dandilion, Iris, Orchid, Sunflower
Eventually I will get them ported over to the iPhone. I do plan on making them all available in a single paid app as well, but I haven't worked out exactly how I want it to function yet.

The ads in Orchid only make me money if people click on them. So unfortunately, inless people start to actually get interested in what the ads say, I will have to switch it to the same provider as the other flowers. I'm just running the small text ads as a test, because things haven't been working out very well lately with my usual ad provider.
So far, I'm only seeing a 2% click-through rate. That means I get one click out of every 50 times somebody plays the game. At $0.03/click that's around $0.0006/game play. That's right folks, less than 1/10th of a penny when people play the game.
Not only that, but the fill rate(% of ads displayed for each play), is only 70%, so people aren't even seeing ads each time they play. We'll have to wait and see if this ends up worth my time, but it's not very likel with these numbers.
