I've just ordered an android dev phone from google. It's costing almost as much as the device for the shipping/taxes/import fees! Anyhoo, have any of you guys done anything with Android? I assume it'll be dead simple to port over my Java games, but I can't find many advertisers offering in-game ads for the platform. In fact, the only one I found is: www.medialets.com/android/, and these folks don't really give out a lot of info. I'm going to assume that Greystripe will offer something eventually, but they don't seem to be yet, and I'm still not making notable amounts of money on the iPhone with them anyway. Strangest thing about Android, is that GOOGLE doesn't offer in game ads!

Yeah, but I wouldn't expect much from AdMob at the moment. I'm making $0.20 for every 1000 ad requests at the moment. It's terrible right now on iPhone, and I can't really expect the situation to be much better on Android.

Do you think it's safer to get back to the more traditionnal pay-to-play model on iPhone, at least for now? (on top of a lite version to help spread the word)

I don't think anything's safe at the moment. There are 150+ new games/apps every day on the iPhone, and only the top 150 or so in the entire system make any good money. I have faith that the ad situation is improving again, and it'll be the only way to make a steady income off iPhone.
