If you have issues, please post here, and let me know. I hope my auto-banning doesn't affect people that are playing fairly, but there's no way for me to know unless you guys complain when it happens to you.
Hopefully this will be the last anti-cheat stuff I need to do on the flower games. I reset the online scores, but as always it's not much of an issue 'cause all the active players get put back in quick anyhoo.
I've got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed. I hope the world doesn't explode.

I've reset the ban list again. I am not sure if the auto-ban was over zealous or not, so I've added some better details in the ban log and loosened the detection a bit . If super growers re-emerge, I'll manually ban them while I analyze the data.

Hi,
I've been playing Origami Rose for a while now but I've become banned for reasons I'll explain and I want to become unbanned.
Before I got banned I would call the sun in the morning and then water my rose throughout the day. However just a few days ago, in the evening, I was checking the height of my rose (when the sun was down) and I accidentally called the sun again meaning I would have to water my rose throughout the night, which I wasn't going to do.
So I thought I could trick the app into thinking 12 hours had passed so the sun would go down by changing the clock on my iPod. This worked however I noticed my rose had wilted and I wanted to get it back up to its original height. So I watered it and changed the clock, watered it, changed the clock until it was at the approximate height it had been. However only after I'd done this I noticed that my name had changed to "Please Don't Time Travel" and I had become unranked.
I played fairly for a few more days to see if I would become unbanned automatically however after about 4 days I was still unranked. I wanted to be ranked so I just deleted the app and re-downloaded it so I could start afresh and ranked. However I am still unranked.
I was wondering if this is meant to happen and if there is anyway at all you could get me unbanned. I really want to compare the height of my rose against other people again and I didn't intentionally cheat. If you could do this it would be very greatly appreciated.

The auto-ban is pretty clueless at the moment. All it does is check if the growth rate is too fast over a given time period. I'll un-ban ya in a sec!
...doh! I don't know what user you are, 'case the name got changed to 'please don't time travel'. Hmm....
I'll have to make some changes to the server so that you can still change your name online after being banned. I'll get to it today hopefully. After than you'll just need to change your name in game, and let me know what it is.

Thanks for the reply. I could actually change my name after being banned so it is Robin1293 at the moment. I don't know if this name is only local, now that I'm unranked.
I forgot to mention in my last post, Rose (and the other flower apps) is really great. You did a really nice job on it. I know this is heading into suggestions but I think it would be really great if the rose developed further after it blooms fully. What I mean is that after say a metre, thorns start growing, or the rose becomes white. Just an idea, so you have more to look forward to and there is more satisfaction.

Good suggestions! Sorry I haven't gotten around to un-banning you yet, the name changing I was referring to is on the server, and at the moment when you change it it's only local as you suspected.

OK, I just made the necessary changes. Next time you play, it should send the new name to the server where I can see it. As soon as I spot your username in the ban list, I'll un-ban ya!

And all of sudden they were gone from the board,
I don't know if they got nabed for cheating or what.

I may do that once I can be 100% sure that people aren't added to the list because of a bug in the way the flower height is calculated. Until then, I don't really want to embarrass anyone simply for playing the game a lot.

Hi, I have been growing my rose now for about six weeks on my iphone, today I went into my apps updates and did an update on my origami rose app, when I went back in to water my rose, it had started over from scratch and I had lost all my hard work and tender loving care. I at many times called the sun right after it had set and then would water it through the night due to the fact that I wake up frequently. My rose position was at about # 18 when it disappeared. I am very sad :-( The name of my rose was Cynthony. Is there any way to get it back?

It's unfortunate, but we can't recover the flower. Everyone that updates to v6+ from a previous version has also had their flower reset. The update was in the store months ago, and I have the warning in the update description telling everyone that this will happen when the game is updated.
I hope nobody else missed the warning. Do I need to change the description? At the moment, the description starts with this...
*WARNING* If you update from an older version, your flower will be rest to 0. Too many people had experienced the 'time bug' and all of the scores in the previous version were questionable. This version will reset everyone to an equal height of 0 to make the scoring system reliable again.
Which I was hoping would stop people from updating if they didn't care about the bugs and cheaters on the old versions.
Sorry, I had to do it to make the scoring meaningful.

I am in the same situation as the poster above. I have been playing the game for almost a week now and have been playing by the rules 100%. I have been unranked for about a day now and I do not understand why. I have been working very hard on my daffodil and was very happy when I broke into the top 200. Can something me done about this? My flower's name is Gigi.

My complaint is simply that I don't believe your cheat detection is working accurately at all and I'll give you an example: look at the digits for #1 player for the Daisy. There is no way that they got there without warping. Misty moo and I struggled fairly with each other nothing taking and giving the lead to and from each other for weeks and Misty moo stuck it out and is the real #1 while the other plainly warped in!

The ban detection works perfectly for what it detects. The problem here is that sometimes the game grows a bit unreliably right now. It's hard to compensate for slow-down caused by all the ads and other background stuff, but be patient it'll get better with future updates. As for the guy warping into #1 on daisy, it's 100% possible to do that and not get caught by the auto-detection. The only way I can detect a cheater properly, is by figuring out the time between game plays on the server. So if the cheater only ever sends a score to the server once, I have no way of knowing how tall the flower can potentially be. Please don't stress over this too much folks, I do this on my own and virtually for free. At the moment I have to chose between people complaining about other people's flowers growing too fast, or people complaining about being banned by accident from the online scores. Just post here, and I'll get to you guys eventually. This is still a work in progress  |

Hi i'm new to this. I messed with my clock and obviously cheated. I really just wanted to see how it worked. I'm in a competition with my brother and would like to be cleared off the "banned" list. I restarted my flower and it's currently only at 1.37cm. I feel like I deserve to be unbanned, curiosity got me. Anyway my flower is named 801. I will continue to raise it legitimately. Nah, I don't do any of dem day new fangled twitter-books and face-space's, or eye-see-queue and MSN message-master.
I do have a facebook page, but I NEVER log in. I have a million useless requests and stuff pending that I diligently ignore. I stopped using IM apps after I found that I couldn't escape people even when I was alone. I don't use text-messaging on my phone either....

ok! I need to be re ranked too! I changed my clock due to going abroad in 3 days, (getting use to their time-zone beforehand). Anyways, can I be ranked again! I was in like 65th place & my name listed was something like DayZ 4 Adam R U Single
Thanks! Btw, is there any way to avoid that when I return, or will it unrank me again & you'll have to "un-ban" me?
