Unable to create username

Hi Adam.

Using a Sanyo SCP-2700, which does not have an entry onsite, so I have the latest generic MIDP 2.0 version of Rose. After sun, water, save, I try to enter username xandarr to check scores, but I always get an error screen. I have tried a couple others to o avail as well, so I'm sure it isn't a name issue. Help?

I dunno. Where did you download from? Unfortunately there are many different versions floating around. Also, do you know the version number?

Strange. Is it able to download the high scores at all? Or show any ads? My only guess is that there is a problem with the network access.

I can download and update ads without issue. Only the username page gives the error. :-(

That's quite unfortunate. I don't know if there's anything I can do to help What are you trying to use as a username?

I was trying to enter username of xandarr. Since my last post, I have also d/l attack stack from here. Same problem. I think maybe it is an issue with compatibility of my phone and the generic MIDP 2.0 game files. I would use an eqivalent substitute Sanyo model if I knew of one that had identical Java programming. I wouldn't even begin to know where to find such info, though :-<

I just can't understand how you can see the high scores, without being able to change your name. It's certainly the first time I've heard of the issue. I used a couple of Sanyo phones during development without any problems: SCP-2300 and 6600(katana). It really does surprise me that the 2700 is being troublesome.

You could try out the Midp1.0 version instead of the Midp2.0 one.

I cannot see the high scores. The games never let me get to that point. I go to the username screen and attempt to enter XANDARR. I press the accept key and get the 'loading' message for about 10 seconds. Then it just says 'error' with no other info. I hit the continue key, and it takes me back to the username screen, at which point I have to cancel out back to the end game menu.
As before, it is an issue with 2 games now, so I think I may need to do some research on the specifics of my Java on this phone to see if there is a more accurate 'equivalent' model I can select from game sites. I tried several, including the 2300 you use for testing. Most didn't work at all; those that did had screen resolution issues. :-(
If you know how or where I can search for such info, that might help. I'll try Sanyo and phonescoop first. Wish me luck.

OK, when I asked before you didn't clarify about the scores. Your problem is not the phone. You need a data plan for the high scores and name entry to work. The phone sends the name to the server across the internet, so you have to have an internet connection.

Check the permissions on your phone, and make sure 'applications' have access to data/internet. Some phones default to 'no'.

Internet setting is on because I can update and download ads just fine. In fact, everything else on the game seems fine. Although on further cosideration, the only things I can do are call the sun and water the soil. I have seen references to seeds and stars in other posts, but nothing like that in Rose. I assume those are server side options which are uavailable to me without a valid username.

Nope, all those other options are only available in the iPhone or android phone versions of the game unfortunately.

Still unable to create a username. Ah well. Thanks for trying anyway. You have awesome games that I will keep playing addictively. I just won't be able to compare scores.

Sorry
