OK, so here's what's up...
Much like back when I was working on "Attack HQ", I need a break from the network-protocol work, so I'm gonna do a small side project. Last time my small side-project turned into "Attack Paddle", which is now called "Attack Breaker Pro". This time, I really do intend it to be a SMALL side project, not a 2 month long full blown game.
I'm not final on the exact progress requirements, but here's the basic idea:
You control a stationary cannon. If you are an old-schooler like me, you'll remember "Scorched Earth". In this game, you adjusted the angle/power of you tank(mostly immobile cannon), and fired at your opponents. I know some of you will think, "hey, that sounds like Worms!", at which I would reply "No! Worms is a crappy knockoff of scorch you young'n, so get off my lawn!".
Seriously though, for some reason I hate all those "worms" games without exception, but love the old "Scorched-earth". I also had a lot of fun with "Scorched-3D" (www.scorched3d.co.uk/), which is a modern 3d remake with online play. I highly recommend SE-3D, however going 3D makes certain aspects a little more touchy than I like.
This FIRST installment of "Attack Cannon", will simply be a shooting range, with targets to hit, and a score-board. There will be wind, and the walls/ceilings will have different types (bounce, wrap, nothing, concrete etc.). I would have made "Attack Cannon" earlier, but I feel that a full version of this game NEEDS network play. Since I am requiring online play for this game, I am pretty much forcing myself NOT to do the full thing until 3-IN-1 is done, and my online system is finalized.
Anyone who has played my games will probably not be surprised that I'll be going pretty basic on the graphics for this. I prefer to concentrate on gameplay. Think of this as a warm-up for the full game, and use it to hone your targetting skills.
