Well, I'm at the point where I could spend an hour or so and have the game out the door..... but I don't want to.
Anyone(I know there really isn't anyone) thats been reading my updates for more than one game release will find this very familiar. I often set out to make a simple clone, and end up wanting to change something to make it unique.
I had a really hard time with this type of problem when making 'Attack Breaker Pro'. Back then I tried all sorts of crazy stuff, but it turns out the old brick-breaker formula was the best, and I just had to go with it.
'Trap' is such a simple game, and I want to keep it that way. Every day the success of 'Origami Rose' reminds me to keep my games simple. I think I may make the goal of the game to 'trap' the roaming particles, instead of filling in the board like in Qix, and Xonix. It's a simple change, but would work.
Anybody else a fan of Qix here, and is disappointed by the current crop of crappy knockoffs? Maybe it's just me...

OK, so here's what I've decided on with the gameplay in 'Trap'...
1) You win by trapping all of thefree-floating thingies in the level 2) When one of those free floater's hits the line you are makine, 2 'sparkies' are spawned on the in-progress line. One in each direction. The sparkies follow the line, and if they reach solid ground, they follow the inside edge. 3) You can only die by running into one of the sparkies.
There are slow, normal, fast and shy free floating 'bouncers' in the game. The type of 'bouncer' determines what type of sparkie is spawned when it hits your line. There's only 3 types of sparkies, slow, normal, and fast.
You get a multiplier increase for each floater that is trapped. You get points equal to (500 X multiplier) if you kill a sparky. When you trap the last floater, you get (1000 x %remaining * multiplier) bonus points. So if you trap everything by using a small portion of the level, you will get a large bonus.
Sparkies are killed by surrounding them, but you may have to do it more than once. The fast sparkies become normal when surrounded once, and the normals become slow-sparkies. If you surround a slow sparkie it will die.
So yeah, that's it for 'Attack Trap: classic' . It'll be out soon. I'm just working on the final touch-ups now.
