Now that v6 is out, please post in this thread with any issues you have encountered. So far, the fix for the time bug seems to be working fairly well. I haven't had to ban anyone yet Also, the disclaimer I was forced to put in the game looks to be keeping everyone in line with good behavior. I found it quite funny that somebody even put in their political views about china. I don't mind this, as long as it stays civil. I'm in Canada, so I don't really believe in censoring somebody's opinions(as long as it's family friendly). Would you guys like to see a miniature flag beside your scores to show what country everyone is from? I did this on my java mobile site: 00adam.mobi, and think it's a neat little feature. It doesn't change anything, but lets you represent your own little part of the word. Heck, we could even have some online ranks for each country's average and best flower!

Haha ha! I have had all 3 games since Saturday last weekend, so I got a jump on everyone in the score board! I will be passed eventually.... likely within a week I imagine. You wouldn't believe how many flowers I've grown over the last year and a half...

hey Adam how's it going? thanks for all that you have done. One thing I still have noticed Is that one person grew 57.80 on one flower and and 61.13 on another flower, all in 6 hours, How can they get like 10 cm per hour??

They can't. They are cheating. I have banned that user, and will be adding some server side code to detect and auto-ban new cheaters that do this.
They are doing it by repeatedly changing the clock on their device back-and-forth and watering in between. I was being easy on people, in case they simply had to change the clock because it was wrong. It happens to people all the time. However, for the next version of the game I'll put more strict rules on changing the clock. Combine the next version with the server side detection, and it should pretty much eliminate all the straight forward exploits.
Some people told me that their clock gets reset every time they synch with iTunes, so that's why I've been easy on them. Even changing your clock because of iTunes once in a while will not produce such a fast growing flower though, so I'll get to work on a fix right away.

The idea of a country flag is cool...
Thanks for providing Origami Rose on the iPhone - friends at work can't believe how cool it is. My son (Nathan in michigan) is the fan but I get to take care of his flower while he is in school.

Using Origami Rose on an iPhone 3G if I get a WiFi connection such as McDonalds without authenticating (can't reach Internet) v6 dies when I try to start it. I assume it expects an Internet connection when on a network.
I resolved this by turning off WiFi.

Yeah, the ad system used in Daisy and Rose expects to be able to connect to it's server. I had the same problem with my iPhone connecting to Wifi spots that aren't allowing internet connections. Thankfully it's not just my apps that have the problem, it's just that the device favors Wifi, because most of the time it's the better choice.
I have the 'ask to join networks' option turned on, so that it doesn't happen to me all too often.

... on a side note: I find that my phone is kinda flaky at detecting Wifi ever since I updated to v2.2. My iPod touch is still on v2.1 and has no issues picking up my home Wifi.

I haven't had any real WiFi problems with the iPhone updates. At home I use WPA2 although I have had flaky access points - my recent changeover to ATT U-verse with a built in WiFi access point was remarkably easy for all WiFi endpoints (laptops, Wii, iPhones, HP wireless printers, etc)
I also have the ask to join feature set so that I only connect to known SSIDs. I usually leave WiFi on and connect to the ATT WiFi APs at Starbucks and McDonalds since they provide free iPhone access. In this case it was just that after getting access my iPhone went to sleep for 10 minutes and then did not have a valid WiFi connection when it woke.

The flag thing would be a fun addition. I had a glich yesterday and my rose grew like crazy and all I did was turn it on to water it. Is that still cheating. Was not my falt sorry.

Re: sweet: Do you have the newest version (v6)? Also, did you notice how much larger it grew? Did you recently change the date or time on your device? I didn't think this was possible in the new version. There very well may be a bug I don't know about to cause this to happen.
It's easy to tell if you have the new version: there is a blue strip at the top, behind where your name is displayed.

The flags sound like an awesome thing, but what also would be cool is if when you started to grow your flower you could choose what color you wanted it to be, except just one color you could pick a different one. Thanks! & I hope this helps!

The multi-color idea is another one of those features that I never got around to implementing with the very first flower game back in 2007. I'll have to put it into the paid version for sure.

The new ads seem to be working out better than the old full-screen ones now. Actually, I could be wrong, because I can't get any revenue reports from the full-screen ad system. However, if problems keep up with the old ones, I'll switch over all flower games to the smaller ads as seen in Orchid. The only problem with the smaller ads, is that I only make money when people find an interesting ad and actually click on it.
Hopefully I'll have working reports for both systems soon, and I can make a decision on which one stays.
... As for suggestions on the next update: Does anyone want a shorter or longer daylight time? The sun currently stays up for 12 hours, but I could make it shorter so it's not as hard for the casual types to keep their flower's growing. Or we could make daylight last longer, to make it harder for all you competitive folks.
Just looking to spark conversation...

Adam, I say if it is possible let the user decide (we would do 6 AM until midnight) since Michigan does not have such a long growing season Also let us know how we can support you - whether we can buy a version or click on the ads...

I think most of the ad networks explicitly forbid publishers from 'encouraging clicks on sponsors', or something like that. I don't want to tell you guys to click on ads just to get me money. However, if an ad seems even a little interesting, why not check it out? Unlike most games, in Origami you won't be interrupted or lose any progress if you exit the game by clicking an ad.
If people click on ads they aren't interested in, the guys paying for the ads won't make any money, and they'll stop advertising. I've used click ads to promote my games as well, and wouldn't want people simply clicking my ads to make somebody else a few pennies.
For this reason, I prefer the full-screen ads. The full-screen ads pay me even if people don't click on them. I also prefer them as a player because once you get through the ads, they don't take up screen space. Even if they display between game plays, they won't really disturb the game play.
... I just wish there weren't so many technical problems associated with the full-screen ads. They usually pay better, but for the moment I can't tell. I've got another project that's been taking me far too long because of all the updates I've needed to do to the flower games. Once I'm done that , I think I'll work on a beefed up paid version of 'Origami Garden'. Maybe I'll be able to sell a few copies, at least to the competitive folks!
Thanks for all the support guys!

I notice that people are using their names to send messages back and forth. Do you guys want a chat box or something similar?

Great idea! I use the page at www.00adam.com/iphone.jsp on a normal browser to follow the conversation since the iPhone only shows some of the participants "names". I would love to see all of the names/comments at the iphone.jsp site then it is easier to follow people. Location is also an interesting aspect (or flag) of participants

It'd be a bit of work, but I could add a private message system. Something like this won't make it in for a while, as I have to finish up some other stuff(different game). It'd be worth discussing though.
Does anyone else want a messaging system, or maybe a global chatbox? If I implement a messaging system, it could even use e-mail notifications if you guys want. I wouldn't send your addresses around to each other, I'd just use the email to relay the message.

How about a minimum sleep time? I think some people are sharing their devices to get it growing all day and night. This doesn't really bother me, but would you guys like to have a forced 8 hours of night time before you are allowed to call the sun? This would let everyone sleep without worrying about keeping up.
